Can't wait for Kasey to post some of his pics from Snoop Dogg's performance at Rock The Bells!

Here's the 1st single from our friends, (the) Foreign Exchange.
It is enitlted "Maybe She'll Dream Of Me"
This track is produced by Phonte & Nicolay with Zo! on the piano.
You can defintely hear the progression in their sound, style, & songwriting - hearing Phonte switch back forth from singing to rapping reminds me of the glorious Connected days - haha!

A brief photo slide show of the WU taking over San Bernardino, Ca August 21st, 2010 @ Rock The Bells

From San Bernardino, Ca 2010 Rock the Bells concert. Dedication to Old Dirty Bastard RIP. RZA told the crowd "Last time we did Rock the Bells, the whole clan was on this very stage together.. Method Man, Raekwon, U-GOD, RZA, Masta Killa, Ghost Face Killah, and the late Old Dirty Bastard" that made watching this set a lot more special that it always was. Plus they introduced OBDs Son, and he did all his fathers verses.. Real dope.

Happy Born Day MJ. Here's a remix by our own favorite producer Vann Clayton (check out the webisode we did with him and some of his other remixes here). His birthday is tomorrow, if you see him, holler
Just found the track "Average Joe" from Kendrick Lamar's upcoming O.D., which is set to drop September 15th. Seeing him destroy The Roxy earlier this month and hearing him obliterate this song, I'm convinced he has a gun for a tongue.
Add this to the news that Jay Electronica's pushing for Act II: Patents of Nobility to drop on his birthday, the 19th, and September's looking like December.
Thanks, Keep It Simple Stupid.

This is part 1 of a special feature we did with Phonte & Nicolay from Foreign Exchange. They spell out the music business and why they are 100% in favor of being independent. Phonte goes through the music industry history, its relation to innovation and its outcome. Look out for part 2 where Phonte talks about Drake and part 3 where Phonte and Nicolay detail their collaboration.

Pac Div LIVE performing "Shine" from their latest mixtape Don't Mention It at The Roxy Ft. (in her 1st performance eva) Marz Lovejoy. Unfortunately for Marz the mic was kinda off at the beginning of the performance, it still was a cool moment and an opportunity to see her vibe with the boys.
Francis and the Lights' music is the soundtrack of new love, road trips, and some movie from 1985 who's title you can't quite remember. On that note (no pun intended), their music is a strait of time. Their name recalls 1950's pop groups. Their writing, that of 60's and 70's love- laden folk music. Even lead singer Francis Starlite's singing style is strikingly reminiscent of 80's "contemporary adult" crooner Phil Collins.
In their first full length album, Francis and the Lights do not deviate from that formula, therefore not disappointing. "It'll Be Better," released on Cantora Records, is beautifully composed in a way you wouldn't expect from musicians just making their marks in the "computers can fix all" era of music.
A strong lullaby quality, potent bass lines, and fresh drum patterns separate The Lights from the huddled mass of bands clamoring to make good on internet independence. The album's overall uptempo delivery belies the tenderness emanating from each verse, each chord, each beat.
An added feature of Francis and the Lights is their fusion of genres. "It'll Be Better," the title track, gives the album an almost bluegrass, heartland, moonshine-and-washboard feel. "Tap the Phone" uses modern r&b and pop influences (no new thing with their well-received 2008 cover of Kanye West's "Can't Tell Me Nothing") to blend with the band's standard introspective, gentle timbre. There's even a bit of head-nodding, dance-provoking funk on the song "For Days."
And I now know why "Karaoke" is pretty much the only song I like on Drake's new album, "Thank Me Later".... Francis and the Lights produced it.
Take a look at the video for one of the stand out songs from the album "Darling, It's Alright".... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INcUV8ygIjo
Def Sound released this video to "Up Is The New Down", a song off his Def Sound is Alive project. It features Novena Carmel (of BabyStone, another band you should watch for). I thought this video was actually entertaining. It reminded me of the Beastie Boys "Sabotage" video - maybe that's where they go the influence from?? Nonetheless check this video out...
We meet some Taylor Gang members @ Rock the Bells last weekend, rocking these beautiful pieces of art.. Jeremy (on the left with the Jet Life piece) is the creator of these large diamond looking pieces that he makes some scratch.
-crazy right?

Peep Young Versis' 1st music video (directed by Jerome D) for his debut LP, iLLCANDESCENT. Val has put us up on some of his tracks earlier on and the full album is for sale.. It's worth spending a minute to check out Versis debuts given the amount of effort he puts into the finishing of his work. He has a show opening up for Jay Electronica at the Key Club on Sep 9th. Holler at him if you're going.

"Oooooooo sh*t, motherf*cka, G*ddamn"
Really, not the best line to float to the surface of your brain and escape your lips while mindlessly wandering the grocery store during Retirement-Home-Residents' Shopping Hour.
But I'm an unapologetic Lil Wayne devotee- I still rap along with his verse on "Bling Bling." (Sidebar: Did Wiz lift Weezy's laugh or what?) "Miss Me," from Drizzy's Thank Me Later, has been spinning so constantly in my rotation it's dangerously close to being spun out.
The song's visuals, which just premiered a couple of hours ago on MTV Jams, are pretty boring; then again, I prefer my hip-hop vids clever.
Also...isn't that vixen a little thin for Drizzy? Tell meeeeee what's really goin' on!
